Ireland the inspiration for Mount Temple jeweller

By Rebekah O'Reilly

Mount Temple-based jeweller Evgeniia Iurchenko started her business JewelryEffect in 2021, after her move to Ireland inspired her to explore her passion.

Evgeniia previously worked as a sales manager for an IT company in Russia, and first found her passion after exploring Ireland, as she started a three-month jewellery making course in the The School of Jewellery Ireland.

“We love kitesurfing and we travelled all over the country to these beautiful places like Enniscrone, and Connemara," she said. "It led me to a transformation, I felt I had to make something.”

“Ireland is so rich in culture, natural materials, and natural beauty. This country was, and still is, the inspiration for my jewellery.”

A native of Saint Petersburg in Russia, Evgeniia moved to Ireland in 2017 after her husband was offered to relocate for work.

“He's a software engineer, and we had to option between California or Ireland, so we chose Ireland,” she said. "We chose Ireland, because we wanted a quiet life."

After her move to Mount Temple, she got involved with Athlone Tennis Club, where she has reprised many roles including Social Media Manager, and has been ladies captain of the club for the past three years.

Evgeniia officially launched her business in 2021, and, over the past four years, her success has been defined by the loyalty of her return customers.

Evgeniia's beautiful jewellery designs are inspired by nature.

“It depends how you define success, but I would definitely say it is a success,” she said. “My customers love what I do – they love to have this talisman that reflects their values. It also reflects my values.

“My products are all one of a kind, unique pieces that reflect nature – they're not perfect, because nature isn't perfect. It's a local product, and no two stones are the same. People say my jewellery makes them feel special, and that gives me the power to move forward.”

Evgeniia recently showcased JewelryEffect at the Local Enterprise Showcase in the RDS, where she spoke with many other jewellery makers and professionals.

“It was a very good experience – and it's something I will do again in 2025,” she said.

When asked what her plans are for the brand going forward, Evgeniia said she hopes to keep doing what she loves – creating beautiful unique pieces for people to enjoy.

“People do recognise my jewellery when they see it online – the lines, the textures, the inspiration from nature – they can tell it's mine before they click on the profile.

“I'll keep creating new designs, and I'm going to keep going to markets in Galway and Dublin. I'm still developing the brand, and I plan to keep doing what I love."
