'Boxer' Moran and Robert Troy appointed to junior minister roles
Longford/Westmeath TDs Kevin 'Boxer' Moran and Robert Troy have been appointed as Ministers of State in the new Government.
Their appointments, which were announced this afternoon (Wednesday), mean Westmeath now has one senior minister, Peter Buke, and two junior ministers.
On the western side of the Shannon, however, Galway-Roscommon TD Martin Daly has missed out on a junior ministerial appointment.
The medical doctor and newly-elected Fianna Fáil TD had been widely tipped to be named as one of the 23 office holders unveiled today.
While it has been known for several weeks that Athlone Independent Kevin 'Boxer' Moran would be given a junior ministerial role, news of Robert Troy's appointment only emerged today.
The Fianna Fáil representative from Ballynacargy previously served as a junior minister from 2020 to August 2022, when he resigned after failing to fully declare the extent of his property interests.
A subsequent investigation by the Standards in Public Offices Commission (SIPO) found he had contravened the Ethics Act, but that this had been inadvertent and that there was no attempt by him to conceal information.
'Boxer' Moran has been appointed Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform with responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Robert Troy, meanwhile, is the new Minister of State at the Department of Finance with special responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance.
