Taoiseach visits Kiltoom following fallout of Storm Eowyn

Taoiseach Micheal Martin paid a visit to St Brigid's GAA Club in Kiltoom today, Tuesday, January 28, after the fallout of Storm Eowyn left many in the community without power and hot water.

The Fianna Fail politician took a tour of the facilities in the club, which locals have been using as an emergency hub since last Friday.

Club chairperson Alan Mac Neice spoke with the Taoiseach about the closure of one local rural school, noting that the club was looking at offering the school a space so they could resume teaching.

"They're looking to see whether they could use somewhere as a temporary classroom. We've got the community room which they might use, and we have a good classroom sized meeting room," Mr Mac Neice told Mr Martin.

Mr Martin also met with locals, who have experienced first hand the plight of having no electricity or hot water in their homes.

He was accompanied by Cllr Aengus O'Rourke, Fianna Fail's Malachy Hand, and Dr Martin Daly for the visit.
