Three local TDs vote against nomination of Michéal Martin as Taoiseach

Of the eight TDs across Longford/Westmeath and Roscommon/Galway, five voted in favour today of the nomination of Fianna Fáil leader Michéal Martin as Taoiseach, while three voted against.

The three, who voted against, were: Independent Ireland's Micheal Fitzmaurice (Roscommon/Galway) and Sinn Féin duo Sorca Clarke (Longford/Westmeath) and Claire Kerrane (Roscommon/Galway).

Fianna Fáil's Robert Troy (Longford/Westmeath) and Martin Daly (Roscommon/Galway) and Fine Gael's Peter Burke and Michéal Carrigy (both Longford/Westmeath) along with Independent Kevin 'Boxer' Moran (Longford/Westmeath) voted in favour.

The Dáil agreed to nominate Martin as Taoiseach by 95 votes to 76.
