Recycle your (real) Christmas tree for free in Westmeath

With the Christmas festivities over for another year, Westmeath County Council has issued a reminder that real Christmas trees can be recycled for free until the end of January at their two Civic Amenity sites in Athlone and Mullingar.

One tree per customers can be recycled, and lights, decorations and tinsel must be removed from trees before they are presented for recycling.

The free recycling facility for real trees (NOT artificial) will continue to operate until close of business on Friday, January 31.

Householders in the greater Athlone area can recycle their real Christmas trees at the Athlone Recyling Centre at the rear of Golden Island Shopping Centre (eircode: N37 T625). Tel: 090 6477397.

Mullingar Recycling Centre is located at Zone C, Mullingar Business Park, Mullingar (eircode: N91 X768). Tel: 044 9344155.

The opening hours for both Athlone and Mullingar Recycling Centre are 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, with the last car admitted strictly at 4.30pm.
