Gardai seek information on car as part of probe into Athlone resident's death
Gardai investigating the death of 58-year-old Mirjana Pap, whose body was found in a rural location near Athlone yesterday (Monday), have issued an appeal for information on the movements of a silver Peugeot car last weekend.
In an update this evening (Tuesday), Gardaí said they were "particularly interested" in the movements of the silver 08G registered Peugeot 207 on Saturday last, December 28, between 11am and 12 noon.
During that time the car is understood to have travelled from the Beechville estate in Athlone onto the N6 motorway (west bound) from junction 11 to junction 13 before continuing on the R362 from Monksland to Bealnaulla.
"Motorists who travelled along these routes within this timeframe are asked to provide Gardaí with dash-cam footage," said the Garda press office in a statement.
Mirjana Pap's body was discovered on lands at Curraghaleen, in South Roscommon, on Monday afternoon. Born in Croatia, she is understood to have been living in the Athlone area for many years.
The investigation into her death is continuing and Gardaí are appealing to the public for assistance.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Athlone Garda Station on 090 649 8550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
