It’s panto season at the Dean Crowe
The finishing touches are being put to this year's Dean Crowe Panto, Rapunzel and the League of Princesses, and it promises to be one of the funniest ever.
With a raft of local talent taking to the stage, there are some fabulous characters to entertain all audiences from the very young to the not-so-young.
There is not just one princess, but three, in Rapunzel, Snow White and Cinderella who team up “Charlie’s Angels style” to take on the evil witch Gothel (they don’t need no knight in shining armour).
Will they be able to defeat her magic and rescue the princes, Lance, Prince Phil Charming, not to mention the hapless Ken (who is “just Ken”). Gothel has her henchmen in Slugger, Scratchit and Sniff but can the princesses save all the “happy ever afters”.
Maybe with some help from the Panto Fairy “Glimmer” and some much needed assistance from all the boys and girls and Mammies and Daddies, good can win the day but we will have to wait and see.
Ella Powell takes on the title role of Rapunzel and is joined in the fight by Nicola O’Sullivan and Hannah Dowling as Snow White and Cinderella. What a fearsome outfit they make!
Thomas Glynn, Joe Steiner and Jonathan Kilduff are the hapless princes and Just Ken while Paul Holloway is the long suffering Dandini.
Alfie Kilduff and the ever-youthful Joan Larkin are the gracious King and Queen who made the mistake of turning to an evil witch for help many moons ago. The powerhouse that is Petrova Mulvey takes on the role of Gothel, and she is joined by her henchmen/goblins in the form of Mags Mulligan, Cian Sweeney Mulhall and Des Grealish. Finally, John McGlynn takes on the role of Glimmer, The Panto Fairy (of course he does!) and they are all joined on stage by a wonderful group of talented kids and teenagers who perform some fantastic songs and dance routines that will have everyone singing along.
The Panto opens on Friday, January 3, and runs across both weekends to January 12.
There is a fabulous opening night offer on tickets at just €14 including booking fee and you will not get better value anywhere in the country.
