Charlie's Bar in Athlone announces long-awaited return

A staple of Athlone's student life, Charlie's Bar, is set to reopen its doors on Monday, January 13.

The popular local pub, which was in previous years known as Charlie Brown's, has been undergoing rebuilding and renovation efforts, after a blaze in September 2021 saw the original bar engulfed by flames.

Now, over three years after the incident, Charlie's Bar said it's ready to return bigger and better than ever before.

Taking to social media to announce the reopening, the business said: "After a long couple of years we are delighted to say Charlie’s is reopening.

"We want to invite you the the reopening on 13th January. See you then… stay tuned for the ultimate line up."
