Athlone Town men to face ex-women's team boss Kilduff in 2025 season-opener
Athlone Town's men's team will open their 2025 campaign with an away trip to face the Dundalk side managed by ex-Athlone Town women's boss, Ciaran Kilduff.
The 2025 fixtures for the men's and women's League of Ireland were announced at noon today (Tuesday).
Athlone will travel to Oriel Park to play Dundalk in their first league game on Valentine's Day, February 14.
There will be no love lost between the sides, however, with Dundalk recently swooping to sign two of Athlone's players - striker Dean Ebbe and goalkeeper Enda Minogue.
Kilduff led the Athlone Town women to their first-ever league championship this year, before making the switch to take charge of the Lilywhites' men's team.
The Athlone Town men will play their first home fixture of the season against Treaty United, on February 21, while their league campaign will end at home to Longford on October 17.
The Athlone Town women's team, now managed by local man Colin Fortune, will kick off their defence of the league title at home to Wexford on Saturday, March 8.
The women's team's league season concludes at home to Sligo Rovers on October 11.
