Tickets go on sale for Junk Kulture next week

Tickets for the Junk Kouture Festival of Creativity and Circularity, which will feature a team from Moate, go on sale next week.

The World Final will take place in Dublin on March 3 and 4, at The Helix in Dublin. It will culminate with the Junk Kouture World Final, a live event showcasing the incredible talent of students from Ireland and across the globe.

Tickets will be available from Monday, December 16, at www.thehelix.ie, starting at €40.

Moate Community School students Emma Kinahan, Lucy Champ and Emma Keane will among the ten Irish team at the event in the spring.

Their design, titled Alpacalypse, is made from alpaca wool and synthetic leather, and was chosen as a world finalist at the Ireland final in October.

As well as their fellow Irish finalists, they also will also take on design champs from London, Milan, Paris, New York, and Dubai, in a bid to snag the crown of World Designer of the Year.

A total of 60 finalist teams from Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, the USA, and the UAE will present breathtaking couture designs made entirely from recycled materials, from mussel shells to window blinds. Expect jaw-dropping innovation and craftsmanship as these young designers compete for the coveted World Designer of the Year title. The designs will be evaluated by a prestigious judging panel of experts in sustainability, fashion, education, and entertainment.

This year’s event marks 15 years of Junk Kouture in Ireland, celebrating its impact in fostering sustainable, creative talent.

After Junk Kouture debuted its World Final in Abu Dhabi in 2022, and impressing audiences in Monaco with its second 2023, the honour of hosting the third World Final falls to Dublin this year, showcasing Ireland’s pivotal role in promoting youth creativity and circular innovation.

The Festival of Creativity and Circularity is more than a competition—it’s an immersive experience. Over two days, participants and educators will explore Dublin’s vibrant creative and sustainable culture through a guided city tour and workshops led by industry experts on creativity, growth mindset and circular entrepreneurship.

Junk Kouture has been a transformative force for young people, empowering them to reimagine waste as a resource and igniting a passion for sustainability and innovation.

One notable success story is Mariusz Malon, a former champion who has designed for Eurovision 2024, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and showcased their own collection at London Fashion Week. Mariusz is also the featured designer of the events marketing campaign and one of Junk Kouture’s many Future Leaders, making their way in the creative industries after being inspired by the program.

This year’s festival is supported by key partners. StayCity Aparthotels, Europe’s leading aparthotel operator, will host all World Finalists, aligning with Junk Kouture’s mission through its sustainability strategy, including reducing waste and energy consumption.

Irish market partner EUROSPAR will proudly sponsor the Irish team as they compete on the global stage, with its 52 locally owned supereasy supermarkets helping Junk Kouture spread their all-important message of living sustainably.
