Athlone hotel manager wins group leadership award

Chris Lally of Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone was recently named People & Culture Leader of the Year at the iNua Group Manager Awards ceremony.

The annual iNua Hotel Collection Awards took place in the Radisson Blu, Athlone, on Tuesday, December 3, with over 130 managers from the group's 15 hotels in attendance.

A iNua Hotel spokesperson said Chris was given the award because he “has demonstrated fantastic support to his colleagues at Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, and is committed to developing people to reach their potential within the group.”

At the awards ceremony, The iNua Hotel Collection CEO Sean O’Driscoll spoke about the hospitality group celebrating its tenth anniversary, growing from two hotels in 2014 to 18 hotels and hospitality businesses today, employing 1,740 people.

The CEO also addressed the challenges in the hospitality sector over the last twelve months and praised the strength and great character of the leadership teams in each hotel in dealing with them.

He also highlighted some of the group achievements, including achieving the Great Places to Work accreditation for a third year as well as silver accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity.

Mr O’Driscoll also gave a warm welcome to the managers from the new voco hotel in Belfast, which was launched in July, and the team from The Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, which joined The iNua Hotel Collection in September.

The awards ceremony honoured a total of eleven managers for exceptional performance in their areas of expertise, and the hotel of the year was also announced at the ceremony, which went to the Radisson Blu, Hotel & Spa in Limerick.
