12.24pm: It's looking good for Michael Fitzmaurice, Claire Kerrane and Martin Daly - with many people predicting this trio will be elected in that order (see overall update below).
The problem for Aisling Dolan is that her Fine Gael running mate Dympna Daly-Finn does not appear to be getting enough votes in order for the Ballinasloe woman to benefit from transfers.
Fianna Fáil will be pleased with the vote of Martin Daly, a first time candidate from Ballygar, and it appears very unlikely that former Fianna Fáil TD Eugene Murphy can spring a surprise at Daly's expense.

11.28am: Many political observers and analysts reckoned Roscommon/Galway was one of the most predictable constituencies in the country and tallies so far are bearing this out. "It's over," says one seasoned political observer, who predicts that Michael Fitzmaurice, Claire Kerrane and Martin Daly will be elected, with Daly taking the third seat ahead of Aisling Dolan. One of the reasons things don't look promising for Dolan is that almost all of the Ballinasloe boxes have been tallied.

9.46am: Speaking to RTE Radio earlier, Independent Ireland candidate Michael Fitzmaurice - who is widely expected to retain his seat - said he would not pay too much attention to last night's exit poll. The "proof of the pudding" would be when the actual votes are counted, he said. He also said he expects Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to form the next government, but that they would need "a third stool or a fourth stool" to prop them up. It's early to be talking about the next governent though - let the counting continue first!
