Annual Moate Christmas Market takes place this weekend

The annual Moate Christmas Market is set to take place on Sunday, November 24, from 11am to 6pm in Moate Sports & Recreation Centre.

The market will be an indoor event, meaning attendees can enjoy the festivities out of the cold winter weather.

Organised by the Mount Carmel Drive Residents Association, this event is the main fundraiser to maintain and improve the community’s all-inclusive playground and surrounding areas.

The residents association, formed in 2018 with support from Westmeath Community Development and Westmeath County Council, comprises seven dedicated women who led the creation of the playground through grants and local fundraising.

The market features around 50 stalls with festive goods, food, and crafts, as well as a raffle with great prizes.

With backing from local businesses and councillors Tom Farrell and Vinny McCormack, the event is a cherished community highlight.

Funds raised go directly to maintaining the playground and community spaces.
