Athlone artist Anna Boles unveils her 2025 fundraising calendar

In what has become a popular annual feature of the run-up to Christmas in Athlone, locally-based artist Anna Boles has launched a fundraising calendar showcasing some of her portraits of the town and the Midlands.

This is the eighth year in which Anna is selling her art calendars and, as in many of the previous years, the South Westmeath Hospice is the charity chosen to benefit.

The price of each calendar remains €15, with 25% of this going directly to the Hospice, along with 100% of all sponsorship raised.

Anna's painting of Athlone's Franciscan Friary church, which sadly closed its doors recently, was chosen as the main image on the front of the 2025 calendar.

Anna said she was delighted to have published the calendar again this year, adding that since it started the initiative had raised more than €12,000 for local charities.

"A huge thanks to the local business who are selling them in their stores again this year," she added.

The local outlets where the calendars can be purchased are: Burgess Department Store; Fernhill Garden Centre; Topline Heavins & Euronics; Centre Perks; Midland Photo Shop; Athlone Chiropractic Care; Ganly's Athlone, Longford, Mountbellew; Athlone Picture Framing; Beans & Leaves; Poppy Fields, Athlone ; Cunningham's Pharmacy; Sean's Bar and the post office in Athlone Towncentre.

Anna also expressed her gratitude to her sponsors for the calendar initiative, mentioning: Fusion Training Centre; Cunningham's Pharmacy; Topline Heavins & Euronics; Sean's Bar; Athlone Chiropractic Care; Dean Crowe Theatre; The Castle Inn; Ganly's Athlone, Longford, Mountbellew; Fernhill Athlone; Dooleys Albany; Athlone & Castlerea Credit Union Limited and the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.

She added that calendars can be posted to those who are not in a position to purchase them locally, and that this can be arranged by contacting her on social media.

"Thank you to everyone for your amazing support over the years. It's very much appreciated as always," she said.
