Dean Crowe to host European premiere of documentary film

by David Flynn

The Dean Crowe Theatre will be host of the European premiere of a movie documentary about life, death and the afterlife, which has been produced by an American filmmaker, with Taughmaconnell native singer/songwriter, Ciara Lawless singing the theme song, appropriately titled ‘After Life’.

The proceeds of the Dean Crowe Theatre documentary, ‘What Every Soul Knows – The Joy of Remembering Who We Really Are’, will be going to Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

This time last year, Ciara was contacted by a friend of hers who had appeared in the documentary, which was filmed in New Jersey, USA, by producer, Peter Alessandria

“My music resonated with her and she sent on Peter my music and he contacted me,” said Ciara. “I was excited because one of my goals and aspirations is to be involved in film.”

Earlier this year, Ciara acted in a short film in Ireland playing St Brigid.

“It’s the story of St Brigid, and they’ll be touring around schools and theatres,” she said.

Ciara released her debut album ‘Paint My Soul’ last April, and spent the summer singing at different festivals and had a sell-out concert at her first gig in the UK. Her first single off the album is titled, ‘I Am Your Healer’.

“I worked online back and forth with Peter, who had sent me a brief to write something for the film, and then I started writing, and it turned into something special for me, and I heard the song in my head and never had an experience like that before,” said Ciara. “The song is called ‘After Life’ and it’s about the wonder and the question.”

The song was produced by Luke Devaney, Blue Room Studio, Sligo.

“I’ll be very excited to see the movie at the weekend,” said Ciara.

Ciara Lawless’s next album, ‘Divine Intervention’ is out next April.

Peter Alessandria is staying in Athlone this week while he prepares for the European premiere of the movie, which encompasses 55 interviews with people about life, death and near-death experiences.

Peter, who is an author and multi- award winning photographer, who has been published in National Geographic, is joined in Athlone by three people from California this week; Bill Downs from the Walt Disney Company, author and mental health therapist, Peter Bedard and Angelica Stone, a healer from Los Angeles. They are all staying in Athlone with their friend, Athlone chiropractor Mary Helen Hensley. Peter Bedard and Mary Helen Hensley also feature in the new movie documentary, ‘What Every Soul Knows’.

Peter Alessandria, who was an Entertainment Lawyer in Hollywood before his career as a photographer, has huge praise for Ciara Lawless and her music.

“I got in touch with Ciara about the project and she wrote a beautiful song for the film and it’s very powerful,” said Peter. “She’s an angel and she’s really got something going on. I can’t describe it.”

‘What Every Soul Knows – The Joy of Remembering Who We Really Are’ will be shown in the Dean Crowe Theatre on Sunday, November 17, at 3pm. Proceeds from the movie will be for the benefit of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice
