Searches by Americans moving to Ireland jumps following election result
Recent search trends have showed American interest in fleeing the country and moving to Ireland has hit record levels following Donald Trump’s victory.
Google Trends indicated that Americans were searching “move to Ireland” at a volume 12 times greater than the average over the last five years.
Research Casinos.com found that the average weekly search interest for “move to Ireland” in the US stood at 8.1 – a figure that raised to 100 on November 6th.
Related searches, such as “moving to Ireland from the U.S.” and “how to legally move to Ireland”, also spiked following the election.
Data suggest people in Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire are the most keen to make the move across the Atlantic.
A spokesperson for Casinos.com’s research and analytics team commented, “There was certainly a spike in Americans searching to move out of the country today following the election results when compared to the last five years, which of course includes data from the 2020 U.S election.
“Whether or not this spike continues as the week goes on remains to be seen. Similar trends were noticed for other areas, such as Canada, the UK and Australia. Whilst likely only a temporary breakout, we will continue to monitor search metrics over the coming days.”
