Martin McDonagh play opens in Athlone Little Theatre this Friday

Tickets are selling fast for Athlone Little Theatre's upcoming production of 'A Skull in Connemara' which opens this Friday, October 25, with Chrissie Killian at the directorial helm.

The play is set in a remote, rocky valley, between Maam Cross and Leenane. It’s a tightly knit, isolated community. For one week each autumn, Mick Dowd is hired to disinter the bones in certain sections of his local graveyard, to make way for new arrivals. As the time approaches for him to dig up those of his own late wife, rumours regarding his involvement in her tragic death, seven years ago, gradually begin to surface. While the language and events of the play are very funny and result in many comedic scenes and dialogues, it ultimately raises obvious questions about the guilt or innocence of Mick Dowd. The law of the land was enforced seven years earlier, however, the judgement of the community on the guilt or innocence of Mick Dowd takes a lot longer to be resolved and continues to fester throughout the play. It remains up to the audience to decide ‘did he? or 'didn’t he?’ 'A Skull in Connemara' opens this Friday, October 25 in Athlone Little Theatre and runs right through until Friday, November 1 inclusive. There's a matinee only on Sunday, October 27 at 3pm. Book now on www.athlonelittletheatre.ie
