Twenty people waiting on beds in Portiuncula and Mullingar hospitals

Latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show that a total of 20 patients were waiting for beds at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, and Mullingar Hospital this morning (Monday).

The figures were contained in the INMO's Trolley Watch bulletin which is sent out each weekday.

On Friday last, October 18, there were twelve patients waiting for beds in Portiuncula, and five waiting for beds in Mullingar.

Today, those figures had risen to thirteen patients awaiting beds in Portiuncula and seven awaiting beds in Mullingar.

In Ballinasloe, five of the patients were on trolleys in the Emergency Department this morning, while eight were awaiting beds in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

In Mullingar, meanwhile, five were on trolleys while two were without beds in wards.

Nationally, 440 admitted patients were waiting for beds this morning, according to the INMO Trolley Watch.
