New captains announced for Athlone's Marist College

The new academic year brings about a renewal to sports teams, with lots of new members joining the numerous sports on offer at Marist College.

While all players are intrinsically important in each team, it is the captains who are looked to for their leadership and mentoring skills.

Marist College was delighted to name a number of captains this week. Congratulations to Ferghal Kelly in 2nd Year who was announced as captain of the U14 Rugby team.

Well done to Cian Lawless announced at Senior Basketball Captain, with Rian Gaynor in support as the Vice-Captain.

Congratulations to Keelan Connell and Liam Staunton announced as joint captains of the Senior Gaelic team.

Well done to all involved and no doubt they will uphold the Marist values as they guide their respective teams through training sessions and fixtures.
