Part of the exhibition Tuberclerosies by Kevin Mooney at Luan Gallery

Halloween events and workshops at Luan Gallery

Luan Gallery will host a series of events over the Halloween midterm from Friday, October 25, to Thursday, October 31.

Set against the backdrop of the gallery’s current exhibition, Tuberclerosies, the event lineup offers arts and crafts workshops, pumpkin carving sessions, and a free film screening of the cult horror classic The Fog.

These events will encourage audiences to explore the dark and eerie themes in Kevin Mooney’s Tuberclerosies paintings and sculptures and celebrate Halloween's magic at Luan Gallery.

Luan Gallery will host a screening of the 1980 horror cult classic ‘The Fog’ at 7pm on Friday, October 25. The screening will take place in the surroundings of Luan Gallery’s current exhibition, Tuberclerosies, a solo exhibition by Kevin Mooney.

The Fog is a 1980 American independent supernatural horror film directed by John Carpenter, starring Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Janet Leigh and Hal Holbrook.

It tells the story of a strange, glowing fog that sweeps over a small coastal town in Northern California, bringing menacing spirits out for revenge upon the town’s inhabitants.

The Fog's central themes are revenge and the resurfacing of "repressed past events" in small-town America, as it focuses on the supernatural vengeance inflicted on the residents of a community that has prospered from looted salvage.

Admission is free and the event is supported by the Arts Council.

Luan Gallery is hosting Halloween Pumpkin Lantern workshops on Saturday, October 26. In this pumpkin carving workshop, participants will use artistic methods to design, craft, and carve their own pumpkin lanterns.

Taking inspiration from the spooky themes in Luan Gallery’s current exhibition, Tuberclerosies by Kevin Mooney, participants will be led in drawing and creating unique designs using various techniques and materials.

Then, these designs will be carved into a pumpkin using child-friendly tools.

The workshops will take place on Saturday, October 26, in Luan Gallery. The ticket price is €10.

The first workshop is from 11 am to 12.30pm and is suitable for children aged eight to eleven.
