Over €400,000 allocated to local community groups under CLÁR Programme
Over €400,000 has been allocated to local community groups under the 2024 CLÁR Programme, as announced by Minister Humphreys today, October 7.
Several projects are set to receive up to €50,000 each in funding as part of the initiative which aims to provide funding for playgrounds, astro-turf pitches, running tracks and spectator stands, as well as the development of green spaces, sensory gardens and biodiversity areas.
Clonfanough Hall Committee in Clonmacnoise, Moore United, Horseleap Streamstown Community Association Ltd, and Tang GAA who were all allocated €50,000 in funding for projects
Shannonbridge Community Services Group were allocated €49,500, followed by Clann Na Gael GAA who were allocated €49,217, and Ballymahon GAA who received €44,863.
Ballymore Community Centre have recieved €38,547 for refurbishment of their hall, and a sum of €18,900 has been allocated for the provision of Solar Compacting Bins in the Athlone Moate District.
Some €17,325 has been allocated for the Kilbeggan Abbeybrook to Kilbeggan Main Street walking amenities.
The substantial investment has been allocated for Sports Clubs and Schools right across the country, and for community centres and local halls to be given a new lease of life.
Minister Humphreys said: “Under ‘Our Rural Future’, we have put unprecedented investment into our towns and villages.
“That’s because we are passionate about ensuring our rural communities can realise their potential. Investment is one thing; But you also need the buy-in from communities on the ground.
“This announcement today under CLÁR has only been possible because of the work and efforts of our local groups and volunteers. You are the people who have spearheaded these projects from Day One; Projects that will leave a lasting difference on your communities for years to come.”
