Athlone Palestinian Solidarity group to host solidarity walk and vigil

The Athlone Palestinian Solidarity group is holding a solidarity walk this Sunday September 22 at 2.00pm.

The walk will start at St. Marys Square and proceed to St.Peters Square for a vigil to remember all those killed by the ongoing offensive against the Palestinian People in Gaza.

The Athlone based group are calling for a ceasefire in the country.

A spokesperson for Athlone Palestine Solidarity said: “We are calling on the people of Athlone and surrounding areas to join us to express our ongoing horror at the unfolding events in Gaza.

“We are also witnessing a massive upsurge in violence and oppression against Palestinians in the West-Bank and we are calling on the Government to match it's words with deeds and ensure that Israel are held to account on the international stage.”

The Athlone event is one of multiple events happening around the country every weekend.
