Sinn Féin TD for Roscommon-Galway, Claire Kerrane, with Sam Brooks, from Taughmaconnell, who was a candidate for the party in the Roscommon local elections in June.

Kerrane selected as sole Sinn Féin election candidate for Roscommon-Galway

Claire Kerrane has been selected by Sinn Féin to run as their candidate in the Roscommon/Galway constituency in the next general election.

Kerrane, who was elected as a TD in 2020, was officially selected at a party convention in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon Town on Thursday.

She will be Sinn Féin's sole candidate in the constituency.

In a Facebook post commenting on her selection, Kerrane said “Honoured to be selected by members of Roscommon & Galway Sinn Féin to run in the next General election.

“Thank you to Michael Mulligan for proposing me and Cllr Dermot Connolly for seconding my nomination.

“I made a promise to the electorate in 2020 to work hard and do my best. I’ve given this role everything, it’s been my no. 1 priority for the last four years and I’m very proud to have helped people and made a difference - there is no greater reward. I haven’t got everything right but I’ve done my best.

“On Election Day it’ll be over to the electorate,” her post concluded.
