Moate Motors has reopened under new management

Moate Motors, which announced its closure recently, has reopened its doors this week under new management.

The popular local business reopened on Monday last under the management of John Gahan, who also operates John Gahan Motors on the Shannonbridge Road in Ballinasloe.

In a Facebook post on August 16 last, the previous owner, Mount Temple native, Cathal Geoghegan, announced that Moate Motors would close on Friday, August 30, due to “constant rising costs” of both parts and general expenses, coupled with difficulties in recruiting extra staff to keep with with demand.

Moate Motors said they were “extremely disappointed” to have to make what they described as the “incredibly difficult decision” to close, and they sincerely thanked all their customers who had supported them in business over the past two and a half years.

“We thoroughly enjoyed working for you all and will continue to work to keep your cars rolling until the end of August” the post concluded.

The happy news that the Moate garage had been taken over by new owners was announced on the Moate Motors Facebook page on Friday last, which stated that the business would re-open on Monday morning of this week, September 2, under the management of John Gahan.

The new management team was wished “every success” with the local business venture.
