Athlone-based DPD Ireland awarded Amber Flag

Athlone-based DPD Ireland has become one of the first companies in Ireland to receive the prestigious Amber Flag from Pieta House, a leading charity dedicated to supporting those affected by suicide and self-harm.

This recognition highlights the company’s dedication to fostering a healthy, supportive, and inclusive environment that prioritises mental wellbeing for all employees.

The Amber Flag initiative by Pieta House celebrates organisations that work towards creating spaces where individuals feel safe to express themselves, seek help, and support one another.

By participating in the Amber Flag programme, DPD Ireland has committed to setting and achieving mental health goals that empower employees to prioritise their mental well-being, overcome challenges, and build resilience.

The honour was awarded by Pieta House, in recognition of the company’s commitment to mental health and well-being. During the ceremony, DPD Ireland also presented a donation of €1,520 to Pieta House, which was raised from donations through initiatives earlier this year.

Speaking on the achievement, Chief Executive of DPD Ireland Des Travers said, "Receiving the Amber Flag from Pieta House is a significant milestone for the company.

“This award reflects our ongoing commitment to mental health and our dedication to creating a work environment where everyone feels supported. We are honoured to be part of this important movement, working alongside communities across Ireland to break the stigma surrounding mental health."

He continued, “DPD Ireland’s Mental Health First Aiders and People Operations Team played a crucial role in this achievement by developing initiatives that promote mental health awareness, offering support to those in need, and encouraging open conversations about mental well-being.

The company’s involvement in the Amber Flag movement has not only strengthened our internal community, but also demonstrated our commitment to broader societal change.”

By joining Pieta’s Amber Flag initiative, DPD Ireland is now part of a growing network of organisations across the country that are dedicated to creating a safer, more supportive environment for everyone.

The company will continue to build on this foundation by implementing additional mental health initiatives and supporting the well-being of its employees.
