Cloghan native Rhea Watts was shocked and delighted when Norwegian alt-pop superstar Girl In Red singled her out of the crowd during her concert in Dublin this week.

The unique interaction took place while Girl In Red was performing at the 3Arena on Tuesday, August 27, as part of her 'Doing It Again' tour.

Rhea, who is 12, was enjoying the concert alongside her mother Helena and her 14-year-old sister Lauren when the star came through the crowd to greet her.

The singer continued the interaction by singing her song with Rhea, as her sister Lauren filmed the interaction in utter disbelief.

You can watch a video clip of the encounter here:

“The girls were absolutely starstruck and in awe,” said Helena, Rhea and Lauren's mother.

The family had initially bought seated tickets for the concert, but managed to make their way down to the standing area – where the memorable meeting took place.

Speaking about the moment the pop star began to make her way through the crowd, Rhea said it was totally unexpected.

“We were just standing there,” she said, adding. “I was shocked.”

“I sang the lyrics wrong – twice!” she said.

Her sister Lauren said she was amazed to be so close to the singer.

“I was just crying because I'm such a huge fan – I know all the words to her songs,” Lauren said.

The two young girls said the concert is a night they will remember for a long time, as they couldn't believe what happened.

“I was just focused on what just happened,” Rhea said. “She hugged me – I was talking about it the whole way home.”
