Athlone drawn away to Sligo in cup semi final

Holders Athlone Town will travel to Sligo Rovers in the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup semi final.

The draw for the last four took place yesterday (Tuesday) and pitted Athlone against the north west side managed by Athlonian Tommy Hewitt, who is also a former manager of the Athlone Town team.

Athlone and Shelbourne, who have met in each of the last two cup finals, were kept apart in the draw, with the Dublin outfit facing a home tie against Cork City.

It's a favourable draw for current league leaders Athlone with Sligo bottom of the Premier Division table, having failed to win a league game all season.

Athlone famously won last year's decider on penalties, having lost the 2022 final to Shelbourne.
