PHOTOS: Local club enjoys success in Tullamore Show photography competition
Tullamore Camera Club didn't have too far to travel for its latest competition success, as several of its members earned recognition in the photography competition at the recent Tullamore Show.
Marie Kearns' winning shots of Hook Head and oil on water gained her first place in the 'Landscape/Seascape' and 'Colourful' categories respectively.
Bridie Roe took third place in the Colourful category with her shot of the wind turbine at Mountlucas in Offaly.
Cliff Webb was awarded second place in the Portrait category for his capture of a little grebe taken at Bushy Park in Rathfarnham.
Third place in the Landscape/seascape category went to David Gethings for his photo of a swan at the Skimming Stones sculpture in Lough Boora Parklands.
Mary O'Grady's dramatic shot of the Aurora, meanwhile, which was taken at Esker bog in Rhode, resulted in a silver award for her.
Tullamore Camera Club is a friendly group of mixed ability camera enthusiasts which usually meets in the Offaly Historical Society premises on the last Thursday of the month, except for July and December.
The club is holding its next meeting on Thursday, August 29, at 8pm. New members are always welcome, and no experience is required.
