Murugan Temple in Monksland marks second anniversary

The Ireland Murugan Temple in Monksland proudly celebrated its second anniversary on Saturday, July 27. As the first Murugan Temple in Ireland and the only Hindu temple outside Dublin, this milestone was a significant event for the community.

This year's celebration was a vibrant and spiritually enriching experience, with over 300 devotees from across Ireland, including a strong representation from Northern Ireland, gathering to mark the occasion. The event was live-streamed, allowing even more people to join in the festivities from afar.

The highlight of the celebration was the cultural performances by the temple’s youth group. They captivated the audience with traditional Bharatanatyam dance and melodious Carnatic music, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Hindu community.

The prayer service, a central part of the anniversary, was led by the temple's founder and head priest, Kandeepan Singham, with assistance from temple secretary, Revi Velayudan.

Devotees were treated to traditional food during the cultural event, and everyone received Maha Prasadam (Holy Ash), adding to the sacred atmosphere of the day. The Murugan community extends its heartfelt thanks to all who supported the temple in making the event a success.

Ireland Murugan Temple is a registered non-profit organisation with charitable status. For more information about the temple visit www.murugan.ie or follow them on Facebook.

Worship services are held every Saturday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
