Glasson talk on the field names and place names of Westmeath

A talk on the field names and place names of Westmeath will be delivered in Glasson this evening (Friday, August 23) from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

The talk, in the Glasson Old School House (Eircode: N37 NX99) will be given by local Dr Aengus Ó Fionnagáin, who is a lecturer in Irish at the University of Limerick.

His illustrated talk will look at the field names and placenames collected by the Westmeath Field Names Recording Project.

It will discuss a number of placenames, some current and some historical, which have been collected in and around Glasson, Tubberclair, Tang, Drumraney, Mount Temple and Coosan.
