Kenny competes in World Masters Athletics Championships

Athlone resident and Tullamore Harriers athlete Eileen Kenny competed in the 10km road race at the 2024 World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden on Sunday last.

Eileen was placed a superb fourth in the ladies' O70 category in a time of 49.32.

This performance comes a few weeks after Eileen was on an Irish 4 x 800m relay team which broke the O70 world record.

Along with Bridget McCabe (Mullingar Harriers AC), Margaret Glavey (Mayo AC) and Mary Lynch (Raheny Shamrock AC), Eileen helped the Irish ladies to break the old record of 14.45, held by Germany since 2013, by over a minute as they recorded a time of 13.27.
