Moate gastro pub reopens under new ownership

A Moate gastro pub which closed earlier in the summer reopened last week under new ownership.

The Cellar Bistro, at The Gap House, began trading on Thursday, August 8. It is located in the restaurant section of popular Moate pub, an area which was previously home to the Moran's Gastro Pub business.

The Cellar Bistro currently operates a sister restaurant at Strand Street, Athlone, previously known as Hatter's Lane. It's owned by Peter Scully and Alan Conroy, who also own Gertie Browne's Bar & Bistro in Athlone, and Peadar's Bar, Moate.

Preparations had been underway over a number of weeks for the opening of the Moate eatery, which has been fitted out with "vintage chic" decor.

The Cellar Bistro at The Gap House will be offering an array of meat, fish and pasta dishes as well as some vegetarian and vegan options.

It's open on Thursdays and Fridays (4-9pm), on Saturdays (3-9.30pm) and on Sundays from 12-9pm.

An 'Early Bird' three-course menu, for €30, is served until 6.30pm, Thursdays to Saturdays, and all day on Sundays. For bookings, contact 085 7651858.
