Edward John, who lived with his wife Teresa next to Lough Funshinagh, in Ballagh, Rahara, was described as a person of "high integrity" who displayed "remarkable" dedication to his local community throughout his life.

He died peacefully, surrounded by his family, in the devoted care of the staff at Roscommon Hospice.
