Esker Park residents' association builds 'great sense of community'

Launched in 2020, Esker Park is one of Athlone's newest housing estates. Fianna Fáil Cllr Aengus O'Rourke has been working with residents in this 33-unit social housing development to assist in establishing a Residents' Association.

"I have been working with the residents since they took up residency four years ago. There is a great sense of community in the estate and in fairness to the residents, they maintain the area to a very high standard," Cllr O'Rourke said.

"I was pleased to secure funding for a new lawnmower for the committee so they can now manage the grass cutting around the estate themselves. I would like to sincerely thank the Housing and Community Sections of Westmeath County Council for their funding support.

"Esker Park is also registered with the Westmeath Public Participation Network, so it is our intention to apply for grants to further improve the estate in the coming years.

"Finally, I would like to thank the Esker Park committee for their great work. It is never easy to put your hand up and agree to take on voluntary tasks and additional work, so credit to all involved."
