Westmeath GAA thanks Dessie Dolan for 'commitment and leadership'

Westmeath GAA has thanked Dessie Dolan for his "dedicated service" over the past three years.

The 2004 Leinster championship winner announced on Friday that he was stepping down as the manager of the Westmeath senior football team after two years in charge.

Westmeath GAA issued a statement a short time ago thanking the Garrycastle man for his service.

"Westmeath GAA expresses its disappointment with the departure of Dessie Dolan as senior football manager. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dessie for his dedicated service over the past three years —one year as a selector under Jack Cooney and two years as manager. His commitment and leadership have been invaluable to our team.

"His biggest success as manager, of course, was winning Division Three and securing promotion to Division Two. Additionally, as he highlighted in his own statement, being part of the historic first Tailteann Cup victory was a proud moment for us all.

"We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dessie and his backroom team for the phenomenal work they have put in over the last two years. Their dedication and effort cannot be underestimated, and they have left a lasting impact on Westmeath GAA."
