'Summer Sessions' set to begin at Galway Airport

'Summer Sessions' is set to return to Galway Airport, with ten concerts due to take place from the August 9 to 28.

Just under an hour's drive from Athlone, the performances will all begin at 7:30pm, with the final entry at 10pm.

The carpark will be open at 6pm, with gates advertised at being open at 7pm.

With no pedestrian access to the site, parking and drop off points ae available wtihin the site.

The events will begin with Fatboy Slim supported by Sasha Gigi on August 9, followed by Madness, supported by Lighting Seeds on August 10.

August 11 will see Belters Only supported by D.O.D take to the stage, with Two Door Cinema Club the following day, August 12, supported by Disgusting Sisters.

The 2 Johnnies, accompanied by the Junior B All Stars, will be on stage on August 17, while The Waterboys, supported by David Kitt, will be on stage on August 19

Following a few days rest, The Wolfe Tones, supported by Brógeal shall see the stage return on August 23, while The Coronas, with supporting act TheClockworks will follow on August 24.

Pixies, with their support NewDad take the stage on August 27, while the lineup is completed by James Arthur, supported by Neve on August 28, rounding up the inaugural event.

The venue, Galway Airport, saw its last flight leave in 2011.

Despite a brief re-opening on 2015, the airport is closed to commercial traffic, and is used as a music venue.

Tickets are available in advance via Ticketmaster, thought there will be a box-office present next to the main entrance at the 'Green' entrance.
