Athlone support for swimmer with local links

There is strong support in Athlone today for Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry, who will compete in the Olympics 100m breaststroke final at 8.25pm tonight.

McSharry is niece of Athlone business man Ray McSharry, and his pharmacy in Golden Island showcased the Irish swimmer today.

McSharry is the second fastest qualifier for the final, having broken her Irish record in the semi-final yesterday and hopes will be high that she can challenge for a medal tonight.
