Two arrests over theft of expensive jewellery piece in Athlone

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of "an expensive piece of sentimental jewellery" in the Athlone area earlier this week.

Details of the incident issued by the Gardai said the theft happened on Wednesday afternoon, and that an investigation led to the recovery of the jewellery the following morning.

"Some good investigative work by our local Gardaí in Athlone has led to the quick recovery yesterday morning of an expensive piece of sentimental jewellery stolen on Wednesday afternoon in the Athlone area," stated the Gardai.

The two people arrested have been charged and are due to appear in court in relation to the matter.

"The investigation is ongoing and we thank the public for its assistance to date," added the Gardai.
