Large turnout expected for Jehovah's Witnesses Athlone conference

A Jehovah's Witness conference due to take place in Athlone in August is expected to draw more than one thousand attendees each day.

The 'Declare the Good News' convention will take place in the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) from August 2-4. The large influx of people, approximately 1,500 a day, is expected to benefit the local economy with increased spending at stores, restaurants, and hotels.

The event will be open to the public and free of charge. The conference begins at 9.20am each day and continues until the afternoon, with an 80 minute lunch break. There will be bible based talks, interviews, and video presentations.

Karl O'Grady, a spokesperson for Jehovah's Witnesses in the West of Ireland, said, “We are excited to be bringing our annual convention to a number of regions in Ireland this year, including Cork, Dublin, Waterford, Athlone and Belfast.”

“These conventions are a highlight of the year for thousands of people who need to experience some positivity in their lives, and we are happy to enjoy the program this year in a number of venues across Ireland.”
