Five Westmeath organisations to receive Community Integration funding

The Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, has announced the 113 community projects set to receive funding under the Communities Integration Fund 2024.

Five of the organisations are based in Westmeath.

Through this fund, a total of €509,791 will be made available to support local community-based organisations across Ireland to play a greater role in welcoming and integrating migrants and refugees.

The five Westmeath organisations are:

- CHUDO Company Limited by Guarantee (€5,000)

- Maryland Tang GAA (€2,500)

- South Westmeath Ukrainian Representatives (€5,000)

- Westmeath Community Development (€5,000)

- Women's Community Projects (Mullingar) Association CLG (€5,000)

Additionally, Midlands Polish Community CLG in Roscommon will also receive €5,000.

The Communities Integration Fund has been in place since 2017 and arises from Action 51 of the Migrant Integration Strategy, which calls for funding to be made available to local communities throughout Ireland to promote the integration of migrants and refugees. Since its inception, the Communities Integration Fund has now supported over 930 projects, with grant funding totalling €4.32 million.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister O’Gorman said: “I am delighted to announce today that 113 local migrant integration projects will be funded under the Communities Integration Fund.

"Over the last few years, communities across Ireland have played a vital role in supporting those who have come and made their lives here. I’m confident that this fund will help support those efforts”.
