Kilbeggan Races meeting rescheduled for September
Horse Racing Ireland has announced that there will be a Kilbeggan Races meeting on Wednesday, September 4. This afternoon meeting replaces the Kilbeggan meetings that were due to be held on April 25 and April 26.
The two-day fixture in April was cancelled as "a mark of respect" to the late Paddy Dunican, the respected and long-serving manager of the Westmeath racecourse who died on April 6.
The September meeting will close for entries by 12 noon on Thursday, August 29, with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Monday, September 2.
Horse Racing Ireland said full details of the programme of races for this meeting will be published in due course.
On Friday last, Kilbeggan Races hosted its biggest meeting of the year which included the Kilmurray's Homevalue Midlands National and the prestigious race was won by 40/1 long shot Ida's Boy, with jockey Conor Stone-Walsh on board.
Offaly jockey Philip Donovan was also among the winners at last week's meeting in Kilbeeggan, guiding Slim Marvel to victory in the opening mares’ maiden hurdle.
