Athlone's 'Gertie Browne's', and Moate's 'Peadar's Bar' have both been nominated for three categories in this year's Bar of the Year Awards.
Both finalists are co-owned by Peter Scully and Alan Conroy.
Gertie Browne's, sitting next to the Shannon in the centre of Athlone town, has been named as a finalist in the Best Gastro pub, the Best Tourist Bar of the Year, and the Best Wine Bar categories.
Peadar's bar is listed as a finalist in the Best Local Bar, and the Outside Space of the Year award, while sharing a spot with Gertie Browne's on the Best Tourist Bar of the Year list.
Peadar's bar, sitting on Moate's main street, was the runner-up in the 2023 Local Bar of the Year category, following winning the Most Dog Friendly Bar in Ireland award the year prior.
The Bar of the Year awards saw over 700 submissions to 29 categories, with all finalists to be considered for the 2024 People's Choice Awards, voted by the public and awarded on the night.
The awards ceremony will take place at a gala dinner hosted by Anton Savage in the Clayton Hotel in Dublin, taking place on Monday August 19.
