Westmeath Sports Partnership awards almost €25k to 33 Westmeath clubs and groups
Westmeath Sports Partnership has awarded over €7,000 in funding to local clubs and groups, totalling almost €25,000 in funding across the county.
The funding is provided to Westmeath Sports Partnership via Sport Ireland through a a successful application to the Dormant Accounts Fund.
Temple Villa AFC, Garrycastle GAA and Athlone GAA have all been allocated €1,000 respectively. Thirty-three Westmeath clubs will receive funding ranging from €500 to €1,000 for a variety of training and educational courses and initiatives.
A record number of applications were received by the submission deadline of May 27 from clubs and local community groups who wished to upskill their members and volunteers.
The Volunteer Support Programme isn’t just about funding, it’s about fostering leadership. They want more people to play an active role in shaping sports and physical activity in our neighbourhoods. By upskilling coaches and volunteers, they’re creating a ripple effect that reaches every corner of our community.
The programme also aims to increase the number of people playing a leadership role in developing sports and physical activity in their communities. It also aims to support clubs in upskilling new and existing coaches and volunteers to increase participation in sport and physical activity.
The VSP prioritises the work done by groups and clubs in RAPID areas of Athlone and Mullingar they are delighted to be supporting several groups again who work with communities in these areas.
Westmeath Sports Partnership, in association with Sport Ireland and the Dormant Accounts Fund, wishes to thank all the clubs and organisations who applied to the Volunteer Support Programme this year. They also wish to express their gratitude to all the volunteers, members, and leaders within each sports club for their dedication to the promotion of sport and recreation and physical activity for all ages and abilities in the community.
