Athlone Town duo nominated for player of the month award

Two Athlone Town players have been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Player of the Month for June.

Monksland native Chloe Singleton and American Jesi Rossman are the two Athlone players among the six nominees for the award.

The other nominees are Noelle Murray (Shelbourne), Jess Gleeson (DLR Waves) and Wexford pair Ellen Molloy and Ceola Bergin.

Singleton and Rossman will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Athlone Town colleague Casey Howe, who was voted as the Women's Premier Division Player of the Month for April. Already an international, Howe has been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming European qualifiers against Malta and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ellen Dolan of Peamount was the award winner for May, with Galway United's Julie-Ann Russell claiming the award for March.

Athlone are currently top of the Women's Premier Division, one point ahead of Shelbourne, with Ciarán Kilduff's side preparing to face DLR Waves in their next game on Saturday (UCD Bowl, 3pm).
