Drumraney to host camogie tournament in memory of Lisa Browne

Drumraney Camogie Club is preparing to host its inaugural camogie schools’ blitz tomorrow (Friday), June 14 in Maryland GAA grounds.

The blitz will be known as the Lisa Browne Memorial Tournament after former Drumraney club player and stalwart. Lisa passed away prematurely in 2021 after a brave battle against cancer and she is sadly missed by her two young sons, Seán and Paddy, and her husband Dave Montgomery.

The tournament aims to promote participation in camogie by pupils of the local primary schools.

With approximately 120 girls taking part, there will be four 7-a-side games taking place concurrently.

Pupils from the following schools will be participating: Ardnagrath, Ballymore, Baylin, Drumraney, Moate, Moyvore and Tang.

With some schools fielding more than one team, there will be 13 teams in all taking part which will be divided into three groups of 4, 4 and 5 teams.

Each game will consist of two 10-minute halves. The action is due to get underway on Friday at 11am, with the presentation of the Cup and Shield planned for 1pm approx. The club is looking forward to a day of joyful participation.
