Victory over Dublin for Westmeath U16 side

Westmeath followed up their opening round win over a regional Cork outfit a with a draw against Dublin in round two last Saturday in Abbotstown.

Westmeath played with the wind in the first half and were rocked with the concession of a goal from the throw-in. However, they took over proceedings thereafter to lead by 2-4 to 1-1 at half-time.

A goalfest ensued in the third quarter with the sides level at 3-7 to 4-4 after 45 minutes. A hard-working Westmeath edged in front in the final quarter but could not put the home side away, with the game ending level.

Well done to the players and management on a gutsy display; the team will be in action again in the final round with a home game against Galway on Saturday July 13.
