A powerful quote, "Scouting rises within you and inspires you to put forth your best," from Juliette Gordon Low, American Girl Scouts Founder, couldn't resonate more than with Beibhinn Kiernan, Venturer Scout with the 5th Roscommon Moore Scout group.

As someone who has always put forth her best, Beibhinn is the first youth member in the group to progress through all of the underage sections of Scouting Ireland; from Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.

Along that journey, Beibhinn has made many friendships, learnt a diverse range of life-long skills and developed teamwork capabilities, all of which have been underpinned by the values of scouting.

To mark this momentous occasion, Beibhinn was presented with her 'Scouting Journey' award by Jill Pitcher-Farrell, Chief Scout of Ireland, at a local celebratory event held recently in Moore Community Centre. Of note is that Jill is Scouting Ireland's youngest and first ever female Chief Scout of Ireland.

Quite humbly taken by surprise, upon receipt of her award, Beibhinn reflected by saying, "I felt honoured and so proud to receive the Scouting Journey award. I've had the best 11 years with Moore Scouts and loved every moment.

"I'm so grateful to all the people who have helped me along the way; the leaders for their guidance at the start and for those leaders who are by my side today. I can't wait for the what the future brings, there's plenty of craic yet to be had!"

Beibhinn continues to be an active member of the scouting community and enthusiastically seeks to impart her knowledge with the next generation.

Young women in leadership positions as well as those achieving important milestones, like Jill and Beibhinn, are great role models and representatives of all the hard work and contribution that girls and women make to scouts in Ireland, and beyond.
