EirGrid to bring its Energy Citizens Roadshow to Roscommon
EirGrid, the developer and operator of the national electricity grid, is set to host its Energy Citizens Roadshow in Roscommon Town next week.
The free event will inform local communities across Roscommon about how EirGrid plans to future-proof the electricity grid in the region.
The roadshow, which takes place from 6.15pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, May 22 at The Abbey Hotel, will also host exhibitors from the Irish Rural Link, the Public Participation Network, and others showcasing the latest information on home energy efficiency upgrades, retrofitting grants and information about community micro-generation schemes.
MC Brian Purcell will lead proceedings on the night, while the public will have the opportunity to engage with an expert panel, including representatives from ESB Networks, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Roscommon County Council.
Speaking ahead of the event, Head of Public Engagement at EirGrid, Sinead Dooley, said: “This event will allow communities and businesses across Roscommon to learn how their region will play an integral role in the decarbonisation of the electricity grid, while also learning more about the supports that are available at a local level.”
Ms Dooley added: “As we understand people’s concerns regarding energy consumption and the need for savings, we are also pleased to have a range of exhibitors present who will provide relevant information regarding home energy upgrades and solar panel installation, as well as supports in the agricultural sector.
“We look forward to hearing from industry leaders and community representatives, as well as sharing knowledge in working towards achieving our climate ambitions.”
