Water supply issues reported in Athlone
Many areas of Athlone town have been left without water for several hours today (Friday).
According to an Uisce Éireann notice on their website, a "water treatment plant interruption" may cause "supply disruptions" in a number of areas of the town over the course of today (Friday) until 6pm on Saturday, April 20.
Among the affected areas listed are Abbey Road, Assumption Road, The Batteries, Beechpark, Arcadia, Coosan and surrounding areas.
There have been reports of no water in places like Beechpark, Coosan and Montree since early morning. More recently householders have posted online about no water in Connaught Street and St Ruth's Park.
The notice said the works are scheduled to last until 6pm on Saturday.
Uisce Éireann has advised consumers that they should allow two to three hours after the estimated restoration time for the water supply to fully return.
