The Republic of Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Switzerland in tonight’s friendly at the Aviva Stadium.
Xherdan Shaqiri’s first-half free-kick settled the game.
There was a debut late-on for Finn Azaz, but Ireland failed to produce a goal in either of John O’Shea’s games in charge.
His interim tenure is now at an end.
In tonight’s Euro 2024 playoff in Cardiff, it’s Wales 0 Poland 0.
While in the neutral venue of Wroclaw, Ukraine beat Iceland 2-1.
Earlier, Georgia qualified for the Euros for the first time in their history.
They beat Greece on penalties, following a scoreless playoff in Tbilisi, to qualify for Euro 2024.
Georgia will be in a group with Turkey, Czechia and Portugal this summer.
Defeat means Gus Poyet - who’d been linked with the Ireland job - is out of contract next month with no Euros to save him with Greece.
